  • Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many features on Kwikset Smartcode 888 Deadbolt Glad I installed the Kwikset Smartcode 888 Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt. Took me an hour to install because I didn't read the instructions all the way through before starting. You can lock deadbolt by hitting a single button and the keypad lights up so you can see it in the dark. To unlock you enter your pin code then hit the lock button. I like that they printed lock programming steps inside battery cover if you need to reprogram years later. Took me only 10 minutes to use Kwikset's Smartkey feature to match the lock to my existing key.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more keys! I am loving LOVING our new electronic deadbolt, this is smart technology that makes everyone in the house very happy!!! First off the 'venetian bronze' color is so adorably vintage and matches our front entrance door to perfection giving it a very sophisticated and smart look, such a beautiful finish, style and design... the installation and programing was way easier than I expected, from removing the previous deadbolt to installing the new one it took us like around 45min but it can take less depending on how meticulous you are; the steps of installation are really that simple. It operates with 4 AA batteries. The best feature is something that we can all agree on and it is super helpful.. and that is the fact that you no longer need a key, such a relief to just walk away from home with peace of mind, the system can store up to 30 user codes, this is super convenient for when the kids come home from school or any other activity, or if anyone (being family, friends or someone doing a job in your home) needs to come in, you no longer have to leave the key hidden in the most obvious places. It does come with a regular key that you can use as well but we prefer to just input a code, it also has a button to lock the door back up, so once you open the door to enter or exit at a push of a button it locks it again, it honestly can't be any simpler, and besides that it has the optional capability to auto-lock the door after about 30sec in case you forget to lock it, I think that feature is genius. You can also connect to your smart home system to enable you to lock and unlock from your smartphone but that is something we are yet to do. Awesome, simple, helpful, convenient and of course smart technology! Love it!

I haven't hooked it up to a wireless hub yet - I may add that later on. The instructions were easy to follow and I didn't have any issues. Highly recommeded.

I really like the fact I can give the kids the code and don’t have to worry about them not having a key or even losing a house key. Not sure why we didn’t do this years ago. Very happy with the product.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy deadbolt! I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to install this lock. It took no more than 15 minutes and it fit almost perfectly where my old lock was...just one quick adjustment was needed.  The deadbolt is solidly made, it absolutely makes me feel more safe and secure. I am a huge fan of the electronic touch pad. I love that it is backlit and they are some many different number combinations you can choose from. I love that I can give a separate code to guests to enter our home if we are not home. I was happy to see that batteries are even included.  I am relieved that it comes with keys as a backup to lock or unlock the door.  I am very impressed with all of the safety features this lock has. I like that I can lock the door with the touch of a button. The keypad stays lit for a bit after use, which is nice.   I am looking forward to connect it to my home devices to check out all of the other features especially being able to lock and unlock the door while I am away, if needed.   The satin nickel finish is beautiful and the interior park of the lock is very sleek looking. Very satisfied with this deadbolt system.

It has added a new level of security to our house and I could not be happier! The code is easy to input and the lock is very secure. The product is also easy to install and very stylish! I highly recommend this Kwikset deadbolt!

  • What does the inside flashing light indicate?

Green color means unlocked. Amber color means locked. Red light means low battery.     Door closes when I push the lock button but won’t open when code entered. Code is correct.

    Hello JoeMacaione, We’re sorry to hear of the difficulty you are experiencing with your lockset. Please perform the following troubleshooting steps below. 1. Make sure to use the recommended Alkaline batteries only and non-rechargeable. 2. Remove the batteries, press and release the program button three times. 3. Check to be sure that the wire and cable are completely connected and not pinched. 4. Unplug them, leave them unplugged for 10 seconds and then plug them in again. 5. Make sure that they are tucked carefully in at the bottom of the lock as noted in the installation guide. 6. Check to be sure that the screws are not too tight on the interior. Loosen them a bit and see if that makes a difference. 7. Check the strike plate to see if it is causing the latch to not move all the way back. 8. After completing the steps above, test the lock with the door open to make sure that issue isn't with how the deadbolt fits into the door frame. Please follow the steps below on how to set the automatic door direction: 1. Open the door. 2. Set the lock to the “locked” position either electronically (if possible) or manually (via thumb turn). 3. Remove battery cover and battery pack. 4. Press and hold the program button while inserting the battery pack. Release button once battery pack is installed. The LED status light will flash green. 5. Press the program button once more. 6. The latch bolt will extend and retract to learn the orientation of the door. Kwikset also covers their locks under a Limited Lifetime Warranty.     my key pad doesn't light up......

    So this lock, the smart code 888 will not just hook up to me internet? I have to buy something else?

    does this lock work with Amazon alexa?

    My keypad doesn't light up - only the lock button lights up. Call into customer service states the keypad does NOT light up and lock is functioning properly. Other reviews state that the keypad DOES light up?
