What's the difference between an everyday key and a temporary key?
Hi Lisa,SmartKey product can be re-keyed at the consumer level. Being able to re key your locks with different Kwikset keys allows you to re key them to either a "temporary" key for guests in example or an "everyday" key for daily use.Thanks!Kwikset Support Team

I lost the key to my quickset smart key (the outside door lock (not the dead bolt) ) Do I have to take the knob off to fix or buy a new one?
Hi Tonya,To rekey a Kwikset Smartkey lock, you must use the current working key in order to rekey the cylinder to a new one. Without having the current working key, the lock cannot be rekeyed. Some local stores such as Lower or Home Depot carry a tool called a Reset Cradle that can fix that issue for you and rekey it back to the original key the unit came with if it was re keyed. Please check with your local store to see if they offer this service before driving out to the store. If you do not have the current working key or the original one the unit came with the cylinder will have to be replaced and will come with a new set of keys.Thanks!Kwikset Support Team
