How to remove a 816 deadbolt cylinder for resetting?

To remove a cylinder for resetting:
  1. Remove screws from interior turnpiece assembly and remove interior and exterior assembly from door.
  2. Remove cylinder housing mechanism from exterior assembly.
  3. Important: Do not remove screws or cover from the cylinder housing mechanism.
  4. Remove the silver clip from the cylinder that you plan to reset. Hint: Wedge a flat head screwdriver under the arch of the clip and continue to work it off until removed.
  5. With cover rotated to the keyway of the cylinder you plan to remove, push cylinder out through front of housing.
  6. Follow instructions that came with your reset cradle to reset the cylinder or take cylinder to locksmith for resetting.
