I called Kwikset warranty and after walking me through possible steps to fix it sent me a brand new one! Overall I think it's a pretty good lock and great customer service.

  • I have just moved into a new house with a Kwikset keyless deadbolt lock. I cannot find the details/serial number for the lock and want to reset the codes. It has a reset button on the back which is activated by pressing with a thin, metal piece. Help!

    Hello Kwikset Owner, We understand you are looking to resetting the codes for the Powerbolt 2 lock but have no instructions or details on how to reset the codes. We have listed the steps to reset the lock down below as well as a link to the instructions for future references. Resetting: 1. Keep the door open in the unlocked position. 2. Take a pen/paper clip press and hold the reset for 5 seconds until you hear three beeps. 3. Let go of the reset when the unit begins to beep 4. Enter 0-0-0-0 LOCK - 0 - LOCK 5. Deadbolt should cycle out then back in. Deleting all user code: 1. Make sure the door is open and in the unlocked position. 2. Enter the default Master Code 0 – 0 – 0 – 0 –LOCK – 5 –LOCK 3. The lock will beep twice and the keypad will flash Green. Programming codes: 1. Make sure the door is open and in the unlocked position. 2. Enter the default Master Code 0 – 0 – 0 – 0 – LOCK– 1 –LOCK 3. Enter a 4 to 10 digit code and press the LOCK button 4.     approx how long do batteries last?

    Hello joejoe9876, The Powerbolt 2 batteries should last anywhere from 6-12 months depending on the usage of the lock as well as the brand of batteries that are being used. The recommended batteries are; Duracell, Energizer, or Rayovac AA Alkaline only. Sincerely, Kwikset Support team.

    Is there a thick door kit for this deadbolt?

    Hello, We're sorry the Powerbolt 2 does not have a thick door kit available. The only electronic locks that will have a thick door kit are; Smartcode 909, Smartcode 913, and Smartcode 915. The thick door kit Kwikset has are for doors that are up to 2 1/4" thick. Thick door kit part number: 81691 Sincerely, Kwikset Support team.

    Our front buttons started to go in and out, they would work 1 second, not the next. I assumed the batteries were dying as we have not changed them in about a year+, changed the batteries and the buttons are still not responding, yet - the front pad works.

Please perform the following troubleshooting steps: 1, Start with removing the batteries. 2, Remove the interior side panel to access the wired cable. 3, Please check to be sure that the wire and cable are completely connected and not pinched. 4, Please unplug them, leave them unplugged for 10 seconds and then plug them in again. 5, Please be sure that they are tucked carefully in at the bottom of the lock as noted in the installation guide. 6, Press and hold the Rest button in the center of the interior assembly for 10 seconds, until you hear 3 long beeps. 7, Perform the handing process per step 6 of the installation instructions. 8.     Our condo complex is mandating that all locks be set to work with their master key (in addition to the homeowners key) in case of emergency. Is that an option wiling this keyless entry deadbolt/keyed door set?

    Why are the buttons on the keypad staying on ? Which now overnight has caused my Powerbolt to loss battery and is now beeping 10 times when I lock and unlock door

    I have a 907 15 SMT CP Powerbolt Touchpad keyless entry electronic deadbolt. I have a code in it which I now want to delete and put in a new one but I cannot seem to get rid of it. Please help.

To restore the default settings on your lock, please following the steps below: 1, Start with removing the batteries. 2, Remove the interior side panel to access the wired cable. 3, Please check to be sure that the wire and cable are completely connected and not pinched. 4, Please unplug them, leave them unplugged for 10 seconds and then plug them in again. 5, Please be sure that they are tucked carefully in at the bottom of the lock as noted in the installation guide. 6: Install the interior panel back on the door and perform the door handing process with door open. Then: 1: Make sure the door is open and unlocked. 2: Press and hold the Reset button for 5 seconds, until you hear 3 long beeps. 3. Enter the default Master code (O-O-O-0). 4: Press the lock button. You will hear one beep. 5: Press "0" button. 6: Press the lock button. The latch bolt will extend and retract to learn the orientation of the door. If successful, the keypad will flash green and you will hear 2 beeps. If unsuccessful, the keypad will flash red and you will hear 3 beeps (make sure the door is open and unlocked and that you are using a fresh set of batteries). 7: Test the lock: With the door open and unlocked, press the lock button. Make sure it locks the door. 8: Test the default User Code: Enter the default User Code (1-2-3-4), then press the lock button. Make sure it unlocks the door. 9: You can now reprogram a new Master Code. If you still need further assistance with your lockset, please contact our Technical Support Team at 1-800-327-5625.
