    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement We bought this product last year around thanksgiving. It was to replace the previous one which was failing. After installation, I noticed a delay in the touch pad and it not recognizing contact to the digital pad. I figured it was a glitch and would fix itself overtime. Over the course of several months I changed the batteries, wiped the pad, even tried so much as warming and cooling my fingers before touching the digital pad. It worked sometimes and other times it did not. The touchpad would light up but it took many attempts before it recognized contact from our fingers. Sometimes we would be locked out of the house for several minutes trying to get it to respond. Finally I hit my limit and contacted Kwikset and they sent me a replacement. I have not swapped it yet due to time. Once I do so I will try and update or follow up. My hope is that it was a glitch and not a common problem with this product. However, kwikset was very responsive and replaced the product with extreme ease. I am happy and will purchase another product through them based on that alone, even if this replacement doesn’t hold up.

We have tried the competition and ended up with THREE of the 919 that works seamlessly with our phones, HomeKit, and overall home automation, etc. Best of all -- it ALSO works stand alone. You don't *NEED* all that extra stuff and it still is the best lock on the market! Since it's a Kwikset product ALL of our external doors have the SAME KEY (what a great feature). HIGHLY recommend this product to all who are looking in the smart home or just convenient home security market.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install I bought two of these locks.Installed them both in 1 hour. Easy to change the code and re key. I have used this kind of lock from Kwikset before. One call to their help line and any problem is taken care of... No questions asked. They truly are there to help. Get a bad lock? They quickly address the problem and ship a new one if necessary. They are the best company I have ever worked with in my 74 years on this earth. Oh, and I can unlock my door from my phone or have Alexa do it with voice command.

  • Lock  919 Premis ... How critical is the 40 feet from Apple TV,,?? does it drop out much ??  I have no walls in-between the lock and Apple TV, but at 38 feet?Will it be a problem ?Do you load in all the codes manually like the old lock, or with Premis?

    Hello my question, Make sure the device is at least 40 feet from the lock. NOTE: Users must have a valid iCloud account with a compatible Apple device in order to be invited. The Invitee will receive a notification on their Home App to access the invitation. Programming User Codes is done through the Premis App only. Click on the User Icon located on the lower left-hand corner of the Home screen. Then, click on the User Icon with the Plus sign, located on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Assign a User Code you will be creating, then select "Next". Enter the code you would like to assign, or generate Random Code, then select "Submit". The Premis App will take you back to the User page where you can confirm new code was added. Once code has been created, click on User code you would like to share. Select from Text or Email to send your new invitee their User code. You can share User codes with 30 additional Users.     Lock won't respond to lock or unlock commands. Won't work with the touch screen, Homekit, or Premis app. Reports status correctly. Shows "locking" or "unlocking" when commanded but never completes. Fresh batteries had no effect. About 9 mos. old.

    Does this deadbolt lock in the USA have an MPN 99190-001? What’s 001 and 002 denote where the MPN is 99190-001 or 002? Can I get a list of kwikset MPNs? Thank you.

    Is this the best option for outdoor use? Is it sealed and weather-proof?

The interior for this model is not designed for exterior use and should be undercover and needs to be protected from the elements. The exterior can be installed on an outside door but not be exposed to direct weather. Kwikset finishes are tested for durability in all weather conditions.     what is the max. door thickness this lock will work on? Is there an extension kit?
