This is one of a few locks that allow for opening by a key, a touch screen ID and a phone app. The screen cracked after 2 years due to sun exposure. Kwikset honored the lifetime warranty by sending me a new unit. The long screws into door jam actually helped prevent a door break-in by a thief through the front door. It'd be nice to add Alexa support in the future without requiring Kevo plus hub. Battery replacement now requires removing/installing 3 screws. This would be nice to do away this screw removal.

The lock arrived faster than I though and is better than the one replaced. I'm kind of thinking the original wasn't right from the beginning. This lock is great, love it.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple to install & keeps us secure We bought this lock when we bought our new home & couldn't be happier with it. We rekeyed it to our existing keys (bc everyone had cute personal keys!). I called customer service bc the lock needed batteries replaced after 3 months. After some quick easy troubleshooting, they confirmed I had a malfunction & replaced my lock. Easy peasy. I highly recommend this lock. It's easy to customize the codes, you can have up to 6 different codes for house cleaners or guests & it still has the key, so we feel confident that we can look the house if the electronic system fails. Great product!

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I bought this electronic lock from Home Depot about 10 months ago. Installation was easy and it worked great. Suddenly it started making an odd noise. The courteous agent actually listened to the lock on the phone and diagnosed the problem (electric motor). I received a new lock a few days later. Great service!!

  •  I have an airbnb and need to be able to have both my phone and my partners phone access and change passcodes, I read only one phone can do so. Is that correct or is there another solution? I am ready to by the Premis, but need to conform that

    Hello tony duncan, Yes, You will have to enroll the Premis using a single Apple device but you can share access with up to 15 additional Apple devices. NOTE: Users must have a valid iCloud account with a compatible Apple device in order to be invited.     I have installed three of these locks, one of them will not show up as discoverable in the app. I have completed factory reset, is there something further I should try?

    Hello Illini, Once you have the Home App set up, the Premis App will ask you if you want to access that data. NOTE: If you click OK, the Premis app will set up your locks and locations automatically. The Premis App sets up the lock in the following way: 1. It creates a home where the lock is being installed. 2. The specific room where the lock is in the home. 3. The name of the lock. NOTE: This prevents locks from being paired more than once. You have to name the Home and the Lock. This setup is what allows the Premis to configure your Homekit. Sincerely, Kwikset Support Team

    Lock  919 Premis ... How critical is the 40 feet from Apple TV,,?? does it drop out much ??  I have no walls in-between the lock and Apple TV, but at 38 feet?Will it be a problem ?Do you load in all the codes manually like the old lock, or with Premis?

    Hello my question, Make sure the device is at least 40 feet from the lock. NOTE: Users must have a valid iCloud account with a compatible Apple device in order to be invited. The Invitee will receive a notification on their Home App to access the invitation. Programming User Codes is done through the Premis App only. Click on the User Icon located on the lower left-hand corner of the Home screen. Then, click on the User Icon with the Plus sign, located on the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Assign a User Code you will be creating, then select "Next". Enter the code you would like to assign, or generate Random Code, then select "Submit". The Premis App will take you back to the User page where you can confirm new code was added. Once code has been created, click on User code you would like to share. Select from Text or Email to send your new invitee their User code. You can share User codes with 30 additional Users.     Lock won't respond to lock or unlock commands. Won't work with the touch screen, Homekit, or Premis app. Reports status correctly. Shows "locking" or "unlocking" when commanded but never completes. Fresh batteries had no effect. About 9 mos. old.
