Goes through batteries fairly quickly but they are easy to replace and remote operation has been great. Customer service is amazing!     Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and secure I got the 916 Touchscreen Electronic Deadbolt locks after a disastrous experience with two Kevo Gen 1 locks - replace 3 times. The Kevo locks wouldn't work many times and I was even locked out of my own house. The 916 is reliable - opens ever time. Its easy to lock and it has the random number feature to prevent a finger pattern showing on the lock. It has the Smart Key feature so all my keys are the same. The 916 uses multiple codes so I can give out special codes from time to time when needed (say if am not home). I have two doors with the 916 and 3 doors with the Smart Key dead bolt locks - all with the same key.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Solid Product for Home Automation I have the 916 installed and tied in with SmartThings Hub. The unit was fairly simple to install and configure with the ST Hub contorlling the codes and the schedule. I have visibility to who opened the door and when. I can schedule the codes based on time, day and day of week. I can trigger other events based on code entry and locking, such as turning on/off lights and setting the alarm mode. Battery life is good, with the first set lasting about 8 months of activity. I like the finish and the hidden numbers on the screen. Highly reommended.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best feature set available to date The touch sensitive glass front is not only esthetically pleasing to the eye, its a seriously robust touch panel which will not punch through over time. The legacy mechanical key-lock can be simply rekeyed in seconds with SmartKey technology. Having your phone as a key that works from inches to the other side of the world "Priceless." It is Z-Wave which does require a hub (user interface varies amongst 3rd parties.) If it were WiFi it would be Perfect!

  • What is the difference between the ZB and ZW models.

    Hello techshop, Thank you for your interest in Model: 916TRL ZB 15 UL. ZigBee and Z-Wave are radio frequencies. Think of Zigbee as AM and Z-Wave as FM. This model Works with Amazon Alexa via Samsung SmartThings and/or Wink. If you do not have a dealer you would need to purchase either a Zigbee home automation system and the Smart Code with Zigbee from either Control 4 (control4.com) or HAI. Or you would need to purchase a Z-Wave home automation system (GE Security, Honeywell, 2Gig, DMP, ELK, Home Seer, HAI or Vera) and the Smart Code with Z-Wave from a home automation or home security dealer. SmartCode z-wave and ZigBee door locks are not connected via internet and are not Wi-Fi enabled devices. SmartCode locks are equipped with z-wave or ZigBee technology. In order for a z-wave or ZigBee device to work, they need to be paired with a z-wave or ZigBee controller. The controller is the main gateway to control all your z-wave or ZigBee devices that are enrolled in the wireless mesh. Some controllers work off your existing router via an Ethernet cable while others work through GSM radio (like cellular phones).     I've lost the tool that allows you to change the batteries. Is there an alternative to get into where the batteries are?

    Hello Gary V, Please follow the general steps below to remove and replace your batteries depending on the model. How to remove the cover – 1. Remove the three screws to the left right and bottom of the lock using either a Phillips head screwdriver or a 3/32 Allen Wrench if the installer had used the tamper-proof screws. 2. If there are no screws present, please just remove top portion by grabbing the cover from the sides and lifting up before pulling the cover off. How to remove/install batteries- 1. Remove the three screws to the left right and bottom of the lock using either a Phillips head screwdriver or a 3/32 Allen Wrench if the installer had used the tamper-proof screws. If there are no screws present, proceed to step 2. 2. Remove the full battery cover (this may include the finished thumb turn portion) to gain access to the battery holder. 3. Remove the battery holder from the lock. This piece will have the word “Door” written on it with an arrow on either side pointing at the door. 4. Replace the batteries with 4 good quality Alkaline AA batteries. 5. Replace battery pack in the lock.     My touch screen work and doesn't work does direct sunlight affect the touch pad?

    Hello, I’ve programmed two codes. One for me and one for my babysitter. The codes stop working after a few weeks. Then I have to reprogram the codes.  Any idea why? This has happened to me 3 times now
