    Rated 5 out of 5 by from No key! Batteries last quite a while! I had a little initial trouble getting a good sliding action with the bolt. After solving that issue, this deadbolt has been great. My initial batteries lasted about 10 months, and the flashing light clearly warned me before batteries died. Having extra codes for guests and workers is a plus- and there is always still the key if needed. I bought another one!

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great and works well, but... If your door in thicker than 2" you will need a "thick door kit." This is an array of longer screws and other pieces. I ordered mine from Kwikset and they did not come with instructions. I was able to figure-out how to use the pieces, but I am mechanically inclined. Those that aren't may find it challenging. Also note that not every Kwikset door set is "thick door" compatible.

  • I want to re-key the lock on my Kwikset Model 915 to use the same key i used on the previous lock. (same model). The instructions say that instructions on how to do that are included in the box. Not in my box. Can you tell me how to re-key the lock?

    Replacing batteries. Do I just remove cover and replace batteries? Must I reset code when I put it back in?

    Hello notalocksmith, Please follow the general steps below to remove and replace your batteries depending on the model. How to remove the cover – 1. Remove the three screws to the left right and bottom of the lock using either a Phillips head screwdriver or a 3/32 Allen Wrench if the installer had used the tamper-proof screws. 2. If there are no screws present, please just remove top portion by grabbing the cover by the sides and lifting up before pulling the cover off. 3. Power bolt 1000 units will have cover pull off toward consumer near the base above the thumb turn before lifting off the cover. How to remove/install batteries- 1. Remove the three screws to the left right and bottom of the lock using either a Phillips head screwdriver or a 3/32 Allen Wrench if the installer had used the tamper-proof screws. If there are no screws present, proceed to step 2. 2. Remove the full battery cover (this may include the finished thumb turn portion) to gain access to the battery holder. 3. Remove the battery holder from the lock. This piece will have the word “Door” written on it with an arrow on either side pointing at the door. 4. Replace the batteries with 4 good quality Alkaline AA batteries. 5. Replace battery pack in the lock. Door handing should not be necessary if the lock has been installed and used prior but can be completed again at this time. 6. To complete door handing (optional): a. Leave the door open and in the locked position. b. Hold the program button as you install the batteries. c. Continue to hold the program button 3 seconds before releasing. If the lock has the sound on you will hear a long beep. d. After the long beep, press and release the program button again. e. The latch will start to move excessively in both directions and will finish with the latch in the locked position.     My new door lock was working well, but after a month or so, the 30 second auto lock doesnt work, it just keeps beeping periodically but doesnt auto lock. similarly when i unlock the door with code while entering, it keeps beeping a warning sign
