What really impressed me was the customer service, the hold time was a little long but the technicians I spoke with (2 calls) knew the product and exactly how to resolve my issues with ease. I recommend this lock and will buy again for future installs.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Product I have 4 of these Z Wave locks connected to a Smartthings Hub and use the Alexa skill. I could not be more pleased with them. Its been a year and I would hate to go back to not having them installed. At night, when I am in bed I do not have to wonder if the downstairs back door is locked, if the side door in the garage is locked etc. I just say, "Alexa, are the doors locked". I no longer have to give people like Pest Control and Carpet Cleaners access to my house with a key or access code. Now they just text me when they are there and I can unlock the door for them. Kwikset has the best customer service department I have ever dealt with. I don't write many reviews...but this company deserves a great review.

I called their support number and they shipped me a new core, which was easier to change out than I anticipated. The lock works great and integrated seamlessly with my smart home setup.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect lock for my home. Long story short, I ordered the previous model from Best Buy and an ordering fiasco allowed me to upgrade to this lock. It was essentially the same as the previous model but a few more numbers and features. I chose this lock because I have a Samsung Smart Things hub. I wanted a lock that not only worked with that, but also allowed me to use a normal key in case of battery or tech failure. Didn't want to have a chance of getting locked out of my own house. So far this lock does everything I wanted it to and more. I love the added security of knowing the door will lock itself if I forget to do so and the ease of access so i don't have to fumble for my keys. And because this is a Kwikset lock, it comes with the Smartkey rekey feature, so I was able to rekey this lock to match my old one without calling a locksmith or going to the store for more keys. The perfect lock for my home.

It was a simple install but never doing one before I had questions. The support team was right there and told me to hang on and he was going to stay with me until it was complete. He helped with the set up and installation. Great support team , none better. You can’t believe how simple it has made life for the family. Auto lock lit keypad and tracking of who entered or left the house.

  • All the user guides and videos on rekeying show a regular lock, not a battery or Bluetooth lock.  Is it the same process, or do you need to take out the batteries first?  And if you do that do you need to go through the handing process again?

If you do not have a dealer you would need to purchase either a Z-Wave home automation system (GE Security, Honeywell, 2Gig, DMP, ELK, Home Seer, HAI or Vera) and the Smart Code with Z-Wave from a home automation or home security dealer. SmartCode z-wave door locks are not connected via internet and are not Wi-Fi enabled devices. SmartCode locks are equipped with Z-wave technology. For a z-wave device to work, they need to be paired with a z-wave controller. The controller is the main gateway to control all your z-wave devices that are enrolled in the wireless mesh. Some controllers work off your existing router via an Ethernet cable while others work through GSM radio (like cellular phones). This model uses Z-Wave low frequency.     My 914 Z wave lock is installed and working properly. I also have it working with my Wink hub 2 and Wink app.  Where can I see the list of codes used to recently use the lock? And where can I go to change codes? Is there a kwikset app?
