    Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good and user friendly lock I purchased this for my apartment door. It's nice. It looks great. And, the functions are simple. After about a year, there was a mechanical issue which wouldn't allow the electronics to function, so I was forced to open it with a key. I contacted customer support, and even though the electronics warranty had expired, they extended it, so I could get a replacement! I was really impressed. So, while it was a hassle to replace the lock again, it was just fine because Kwikset's customer service was world class. Thanks.

A problem came up but one phone call and we had what we needed being sent at no charge! Their customer service is top notch in identifying the problem and efficiently handling the correction! This lock has made carrying a key obsolete and is a nice looking upgrade!

  • I purchased the smart code 913 and my question is when you begin to enter your code what is supposed to prompt the back light. Any key or just the lock button?

    The package mentions auto locking after 30 seconds, but it's not doing that. Is there a way to turn that on?

The lock will auto lock if switch #2 on the back of the unit is in the on position to enable auto locking after 30 seconds of being unlocked and can be disabled by moving the switch to the off position.     How do you get the auto lock feature to start? I just installed mine and it doesn’t auto lock at all after unlocking. Waited multiple 30 seconds.

    The keypad has not ever been backlit. Wondering if installation was done incorrectly, but everything else is working perfectly.

    Is this lock made for a handle/lock on the right handed handle (for the interior) because its locking the wrong and we have our the lock on the left hand side (from the interior of our home)

    How important is it to remove the battery pack when using smartkey to rekey the lock during installation?  I forgot this step but everything seems to be working correctly.  Can problems occur later due to this, how should I fix this?

    I’ve had my lock three months. Suddenly it stopped working. Nothing. I changed batteries. And checked voltage of each batteries. They are good.  Suddenly last night it started chirping with a green light.  Still does not work. What’s up?
