Very convenient not having to search for your key in the dark, and also to give friends or contractors access with the flexibility of being able to conveniently change access codes, if necessary.Only drawbacks are having to replace batteries periodically (maybe once a year? Not that bad, although I hate creating more waste), and sometimes the strike plate and bolt don't line up correctly due to swelling and contraction of the foundation of our house, which causes the deadbolt to give an error. This has more to do with my own personal circumstances...Otherwise a great product. Highly recommend.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I received this Kwikset deadbolt as a Christmas gift from my brother who is into home automation and also owns this product. I installed this deadbolt and linked it up with a SmartThings home automation hub. I am very pleased with the the appearance, performance, and convenience provided. For example, now I'm able to arrive home with hands full of bags or whatever and my door will automatically be unlocked so I no longer need to fumble around with keys. When I leave the house the door will automatically lock if I've forgotten to lock it (locking this deadbolt is as easy as pushing the single button with the padlock icon on it). I did setup the keypad password and also used the my existing keys from the kwikset deadbolt I was replacing with this one to rekey my old key to this new deadbolt (both processes were surprisingly easy to do, although I never have to use my key or password due to the automation).These next two points, I don't consider negatives but perhaps others might so I'll list them...I would say the auto lock/unlock noise can be a bit loud and surprising if you're not use to it but honestly I like it because I can hear it and it alerts me to the door lock opening if someone else in my household arrives home.The other cost I would say is this lock require battery power for keypad/auto lock capability, but that is expected and after 4 months of regular use my battery power is still 70%.And of course there is the question of cost of purchasing this model versus another not so advanced, but for the convenience this has provided me in automation I'd say it's worth it!Overall I'm very happy with this product.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best (and easiest) way to get a Smart Home! This lock is the best way to get a smart home. And it's so easy! Once you buy this lock, all you have to do is get a z-wave compatible hub. Staples Connect or Wink are two that are under $50! then you have remote access to see not only the status of the lock anytime, anywhere, but you can also assign temporary user codes all in the app! And it is DEAD SIMPLE! You will love it, I know I do. I have three at my house, and my entire family loves it, too. And with SmartKey, it can match your other keys (but you won't really need them, anymore).

The great thing about the products is with each upgrade I've purchased, the technology, appearance, features and value just keep getting better and better. I love the ability to lock, unlock or just verify I have left my home secure from my smart phone or lap top at the touch of a button. In two words, I love it!!!

Because they are connected to my Zwave home network I can remotely check if they are locked and lock or unlock them as needed and get alerts if they are changed or tampered with. Have given several out to friends and family as gifts. Would definitely recommend.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product! I bought this over a year ago. Works perfectly with my Iris home security system from Lowe's. Only issues I have had with it are; when i first linked it to my Iris hub it would not take it because Kwikset tests them before they package it and they did not reset it after so it can be linked to a new source. Second issue i have with it is the battery life should be longer in my opinion. In the approximately 12 months i have owned it i have replaced the 4 AA batteries twice already.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Z-wave Deadbolt I use this deadbolt for our front door. It is very convenient to be able to lock and unlock the door without any key. I have also programmed my primary z-wave controller to lock my external doors in the middle of the night, just in case. I can check the status of the locks and switch them even when I am not at home. With this deadbolt, I feel more secure.

    I moved and brought lock to new house and I can't get it to work on the new door it still wants to lock in the direction of the old door set up is there a way to reset it ?

    Hi Josh,The 909 SmartCode is reversible and can be installed on both left and right hand doors. (1) Hold LOCK button on keypad while (2) inserting the battery pack into the interior. The lock will automatically sense the handing of the door and will extend & retract deadbolt latch. Two beeps will sound in approximately 30 seconds to confirm successful installation.     I have had my unit installed for about 2-yrs in Las Vegas area. My keypad remains constantly red and batteries are brand new. I reset and the red goes away for a little while (minutes not days)... it this a sign that unit is dying or other?
