details on the successful market introduction of its SmartSupply builder
purchasing program, demonstrating sustainable and scalable value in streamlining
the hardware distribution process for national and multi-regional builders.
SmartSupply, a 2008 KB Home "Supply Chain Innovation" Award recipient, helps
reduce costs, increase profits and improve jobsite efficiency by minimizing
distribution channels and simplifying the purchasing process. At the core of the
SmartSupply program are the tangible benefits of offering builders greater
purchasing efficiency, on-site delivery, integrated computer inventory systems,
and access to the full line of Kwikset’s exclusive SmartKey locks.

With the help of technology developed by industry-leading solutions provider
Hyphen Solutions, Ltd., the SmartSupply program enables national and
multi-regional builders to order from the field, process orders in real time,
track invoices online, and access a detailed audit trail. The program utilizes
Hyphen’s SupplyPro® scheduling and collaboration tool, in partnership with a
jointly developed Kwikset interface. The Hyphen Solutions system allows the
distributor, builder and Kwikset to access information on usage history and
future demand, enabling higher levels of productivity, decreased inventory

SmartKey Strengthens Program Offering
A featured product line offered through the SmartSupply program is the
SmartKey lock, which is available in the Kwikset Signature Series line. With the
patented side-locking bar technology which replaces the traditional pin and
tumbler design, SmartKey locks are resistant to lock bumping, and can easily be
re-keyed in 30 seconds or less, eliminating many of the hassles and complexities
associated with traditional re-keying processes. The additional security of
SmartKey can be used as a significant feature when selling new homes. All
SmartKey enabled locks are included in the SmartSupply program. Top styles
selected by builders include: the Kwikset Signature Series, Kwikset 660
Deadbolt, and Cove. As part of the SmartSupply program, builders can choose from
a variety of wholesale and distribution packages that include inventory
upgrades, quick shipments, small dealer support, jobsite delivery, installation
