      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deadbolt features and reliability! We purchased our smart deadbolt on a trip last fall. It has been 100% reliable for both us and our pet sitter. We would love to use the auto locking feature but, having a dog, we would continually be unlocking. We purchased the gold coloured unit and find that it looks elegant and matches our lever handset. The smart deadbolt was a breeze to install and easy!! to set up. I really appreciate the ease of access to the settings and batteries via the large sliding inside face. It's a good feeling to press the lock button and walk away, hearing the "locked beep", not to mention having the flashing red or green (locked/unlocked) light seen from within. I think friends are getting into it -- a recent visitor exited ... and locked himself out!

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more fumbling for keys We have had 2 of these locks for over 2 years now. Our front door we have it set to auto lock after 30 secs, side door we lock manually as we go in and out of this door with groceries etc. Never have had a problem with either. Had to change the batteries on the side door since we use it more. Don't have to worry about getting keys for others that need to get in for a reason. Took a bit for us to get them installed, but once we figured it out, the second one was a lot easier. Would like to be able to tell who (which code) entered at times.

      Rated 4 out of 5 by from EASE OF USE This is the second unit we have had. The first one worked properly for several years requiring annual battery changes. Then it quit and we purchased the same model as a replacement.We have the lock on the door between the garage and the utility room. We keep the door locked and use it many times a day. Just program an easy to remember number in to the unit's memory and punch it in and you are in. If the batteries go dead, you can use the provided key to gain entry. Batteries are easy to replace and last at least a year of heavy use.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more Keys The best purchase I ever made. My wife is constantly locking the door, even if I go outside and without having my keys I could not re enter my home. This lock is easy to operate and the batteries lasted over a year. If I have guest arriving before I get home I can enter a temporary code and text the number to them when they arrive so they can enter my home. No more hiding a key somewhere worrying that someone might find it. I even used the smart key function to match my other kwikset door keys to this lock.

I installed it on the door to my garage over a year ago and still have not needed to replace the batteries. I used the smart key function to match my other kwikset locks, so one key works for all of my locks. This is a very convenient product and I plan on buying another one for my side door in the next few weeks.

    • Does the key pad light up? I have replaced mine twice and neither lights up.

      Hi Jewels21,The panel on Kwikset model #909 L03 SMT CP lights up 2 ways.1.) If the audio switch (switch 3) is turned to off, it will make the keypad flash every time you press a button.2.)       have customer that wants to use this application on a door that is for his fence. He wants to know if it will hold up in the weather that it will be exposed to? Please let me know.

      Hello Mike Wauson,The interior for a SmartCode is not designed for exterior use and should be under cover and needs to be protected from the elements. The exterior can be installed on an outside door but not be exposed to direct weather.Thank you,Kwikset Support

      The page says 'Just assign a temporary code to whoever needs one and delete it when you see fit.', but I don't see anywhere how to delete a code.

      Hello Jack Griffith,For the Kwikset Smart Code locks when you program a new code it overwrites the old code that was previously stored. If you cannot remember which code was the one you wanted to delete, it is recommended you reprogram over all 2 codes. If you wanted only a single code to work the unit you would program the same code over all 2 codes.Thank you,Kwikset Support

      Keys do not light up... Is there a way to turn them on, or do I have a dud?

      Where do I get the physical key since I lost it? I need one just in case the battery goes dead?  Can I go to Lowes or Home depot and get the physical key?

      When I moved the unit from a right hand door to a left hand door, it keeps trying to lock as if it was still in a right hand door. Is there a setting for this difference?

      The 909 SmartCode is reversible and can be installed on both left and right hand doors. (1) Hold LOCK button on keypad while (2) inserting the battery pack into the interior. The lock will automatically sense the handing of the door and will extend & retract deadbolt latch. Two beeps will sound in approximately 30 seconds to confirm successful installation. For further troubleshooting support, please contact Kwikset Consumer Support at 1-800-327-LOCK (5625).

      Lock keeps trying to auto lock every 30 seconds even though it is locked. I have it set to lock after 30 seconds when unlocked but it shouldn't be doing this every 30 seconds. Any ideas?

      I figured it out. You have to make sure it completely locks. Otherwise, it will try to relock every 30 seconds. In my case, I had to bore a deeper hold in door frame so that it locked completely.
