      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deadbolt features and reliability! We purchased our smart deadbolt on a trip last fall. It has been 100% reliable for both us and our pet sitter. We would love to use the auto locking feature but, having a dog, we would continually be unlocking. We purchased the gold coloured unit and find that it looks elegant and matches our lever handset. The smart deadbolt was a breeze to install and easy!! to set up. I really appreciate the ease of access to the settings and batteries via the large sliding inside face. It's a good feeling to press the lock button and walk away, hearing the "locked beep", not to mention having the flashing red or green (locked/unlocked) light seen from within. I think friends are getting into it -- a recent visitor exited ... and locked himself out!

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more fumbling for keys We have had 2 of these locks for over 2 years now. Our front door we have it set to auto lock after 30 secs, side door we lock manually as we go in and out of this door with groceries etc. Never have had a problem with either. Had to change the batteries on the side door since we use it more. Don't have to worry about getting keys for others that need to get in for a reason. Took a bit for us to get them installed, but once we figured it out, the second one was a lot easier. Would like to be able to tell who (which code) entered at times.

      Rated 4 out of 5 by from EASE OF USE This is the second unit we have had. The first one worked properly for several years requiring annual battery changes. Then it quit and we purchased the same model as a replacement.We have the lock on the door between the garage and the utility room. We keep the door locked and use it many times a day. Just program an easy to remember number in to the unit's memory and punch it in and you are in. If the batteries go dead, you can use the provided key to gain entry. Batteries are easy to replace and last at least a year of heavy use.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more Keys The best purchase I ever made. My wife is constantly locking the door, even if I go outside and without having my keys I could not re enter my home. This lock is easy to operate and the batteries lasted over a year. If I have guest arriving before I get home I can enter a temporary code and text the number to them when they arrive so they can enter my home. No more hiding a key somewhere worrying that someone might find it. I even used the smart key function to match my other kwikset door keys to this lock.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great We've had this Electronic Deadbolt for a few years. The smaller size of the keypad fit the limited room on our door just fine. With a big family it was easier to use the entry code than everyone having to keep a key or remember to put the key back in the hiding place. I had some problems with the deadbolt working after changing the batteries and called the 800 number for help. The knowledgeable technician helped me quickly and got everything working again.

I thought it was an clever idea that its door had an electronic lock; instead of a key, all we needed to know was the code. (The owners were able to easily change the code after each tenant left.) As soon as we returned home, I bought a Kwikset lock for our front door. Six years later it is still working great and I am still impressed with it.

    • I have only had my lock for about 6 weeks and have already had to change the batteries twice. I love this product, but it is not practical to have to change the batteries every 3 week, I read in your FAQs they should last about a year? Any advice?

      The lock box on the interior side is catching and not opening and closing smoothly.  The lock will not work with the current tension.  How do I fix this?

      Hello johnmusselwhite,Remove the interior pack off the door. Once removed off the door, grab the thumb turn and rotate the thumb turn clockwise past the stop, 3 times around. The unit will click while performing this process.Thank you,Kwikset Support

      Our batteries died in the lock. My daughter left the lock without batteries overnight. I put new batteries in the lock but the keypad is still not working. We can lock it from our phone or the security panel but not the key pad.

      How do I erase a set code

Enter in 4 to 8 digit code onto the keypad.c. Press the “LOCK” button to save code.d. Extend the bolt by pressing the “LOCK” button and re-enter the code to test. Our new SmartKey product can be re-keyed at the consumer level by following the re-keying instructions, but is not compatible with other brands.Steps to re-keying Smart Key units (Note: You must have your Functioning Key and Learn Tool for this to work).1.
