      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Same home key, great features. After working all day and driving home, I just want to get inside my home and unwind. As I dig for my key, I realize that I can just use my master code and enter. So much easier indeed. Once inside, I notice the cleaning service came today and used the 'Alt' door code I provided for them so they may have in/out access to perform their job. (no keys needed) I change this code each time to provide added security between services. Once I lock the door for the night from the inside, I see a 'blinking red' light that lets me know the door is locked. Headed for secure sleep.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice finish and great security! I own two of these units, one for house and other on garage. House unit is used half as much as garage unit, and both units have held up well in over three years of use. Garage batteries will last about 6months(4 AA's) and house bout a year. We also oil/lubricate deadbolt pin bout twice a year, to reduce wear from moisture/rust. These are the first time we have owned them and are impressed by ease of use and ability to change code quickly. Also had to contact kwikset customer service and they were excellent with my inquiry, unlike most companies you deal with today. Would recommend these to anyone needin good security and ease of use.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from No More Keys! I have had this Kwikset SmartCode Deadbolt for just about two years. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to not to have to worry about being locked out of your house. With no keys needed, it's a simple code that you create that can be changed if and when you need to. You can also have an additional code created to allow a guest to enter if necessary, possibly to check on your home while you are away. This code can then be deleted or changed. I feel very secure with this lock as it will only allow someone to try the combination a few times before it shuts down and will not allow any additional attempts for a certain amount of minutes. I love this lock!

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely easy and convenient I just recently moved home and the first day I was home I didnt have a key to let myself in and out as I needed so my mom and I would have to exchange keys if I wanted to go about the town while she was at work but I would have to make sure I was home to let her in. This went on for about 3 days til I was finally able to go to lowes and get a key made. But I decided this was going to be so much easier to do then having a key. I still have a house key but I never use it since this lock has been installed. If and when I sell my house I'll make sure all my locks are like this since the keys can bee rekeyed to fit and key.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Security I have had this lock about a year now. Still on the original batteries. It is great not having to have a key when I go for an early morning run. Also great for my kids (who live away from home) when they show up unexpectedly. No worry about them forgetting their keys (just the code and they can call us for that). Also great for when we travel and my wife panics thinking she left the stove/iron/curler etc on. We simply call a neighbor, give them the code and they can put her mind at ease.The lock was simple to install and program. That was my biggest worry when I purchased it. But I had no troubles at all doing it myself with the instructions included. A simple lock to install.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peace of mind I bought this deadbolt a few days ago and I am very impressed. Rekeying the lock was simple, as advertised. Installation took a bit longer than expected, but that was not kwikset's fault - the builder of my home installed the strike plate about .25" too high. The screw pattern was just off enough to prevent me from using the new one included in the kit so I had to get a file and shave the bottom edge of the hole in the strike plate down so the lock would cycle smoothly, and it does. I love the autolock function and the ease of programming. I will definitely get another one of these when I move.

      Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product but buttons no longer light up! I've had the 909 15 SMT for years. Worked so well I got a second lock for the garage door. Great being able to work outside and not have to worry about carrying keys around anymore. Batteries last for 6 months and that's with daily use. No problems -- until tonight when the buttons on the front door lock wouldn't light up anymore. I replaced the batteries and they still don't light up. Downloaded the Troubleshooting Guide -- nothing in there about testing or resetting the button lights. Don't like the idea now of having to spend another $200 just to get a new lock where the buttons light up.

      The lock function unlocks and the unlock locks how do I change this?

      I've been told there is a master code - that when you use the code 0000 it will open this lock.  Is it true?

      Switch 2 is on how do I keep it from trying to lock again every 30 secs?

      Hello Frog,If the lock is trying to lock again after each 30 seconds. Try to test it with the door open. If the auto locking stops, the hole in the door frame is not deep enough or the lock is hitting the striker plate on the door frame. Please move the striker plate and make sure the hole is 1" deep for the latch to extend fully.Thank you,Kwikset Support

      As I am in the install, where you hold the lock button and the lever/deadbolt should move, only the lever moves when I hold the lock button. Yes it works with the key, but not the automatic lever. What do I focus on now?

      if you forget the code is their a manufacturing code that unlocks the lock

      Installed unit.  Lock button works fine.  But hours and hours have been wasted trying to program unit.  The Electronic Deadbolt simply will not recognize any code we program.  It will NOT unlock no matter what we do (following all printed directions.)

      I just set up a new lock. The little green light that flashes on the inside,  will it always flash or did i set something up wrong?
