• What is Aura Bluetooth Keypad Smart Lock?

    Aura is Kwikset’s newest Bluetooth-enabled electronic deadbolt. It has a 10-digit keypad and works with the Kwikset App which allows a user to lock and unlock the deadbolt, program custom user codes with schedules, view lock event history, and even share management of the lock with others.
  • How do I lock and unlock the Aura deadbolt?

    From the outside, Aura has a convenient 1-touch locking button on the keypad to easily lock the deadbolt. It can also be locked with a key from the outside. From the inside, Aura has a sleek turnpiece to lock or unlock the deadbolt. Aura can also be locked and unlocked from your smartphone using the Kwikset App within Bluetooth range of the deadbolt.
  • How do I add user codes to Aura?

    To add user codes to your Aura lock, download the Kwikset App on your smartphone, create an account, create a ‘home’, and add the Aura lock to your ‘home’ within Bluetooth range of the lock.
  • Can I manage user codes (add, edit, or delete) when I’m not home?

    The smartphone needs to be within Bluetooth range of the lock in order to manage user codes, edit lock settings, or download recent lock activity history.
  • Can I add more than one lock to the app?

    Yes, you can add multiple locks to a single app/account. You can also create multiple locations (called “Homes”) to a single app/account and each Home can have multiple locks.
  • How many smartphones can be paired to a lock?

    Each lock can pair with up to eight (8) smartphones at a time.
  • How is the Aura powered?

    The Aura deadbolt is powered by 4xAA batteries. For best performance, we highly recommend alkaline batteries from a major brand. Do not use re-chargeable or lithium ion batteries.
  • How will I know if the batteries are low?

    Aura will notify you of low batteries with audio and visual cues at the lock at three different low battery levels as well as alert you through the Kwikset App.
  • Will I lose my user codes if I change my batteries?

    No, user codes will not be lost if the batteries die or are removed.
  • Will I receive notifications on my phone when something happens?

    Yes, you will receive notifications about lock events if you’re within Bluetooth range and the app is running in the foreground.
  • Does Aura work with voice assistants such as Alexa or Google Home?

    Aura does not currently work with Alexa or Google Home but we are always looking at ways to innovate and deliver valuable features and benefits.
  • Can I control AURA from anywhere?

    Aura is a Bluetooth lock so you will need to be within Bluetooth range to control and manage the lock from your smartphone. Some features, such as sharing an existing access code, is available even if you’re not in Bluetooth range.
  • Will I be able to share eKeys like with Kevo?

    Aura doesn’t use the same cloud and Bluetooth design as Kevo and therefore doesn’t use eKeys.
  • How do I grant guests access if there are no eKeys?

    You can program access codes with specific schedules for guests when you’re within Bluetooth range of the lock.
  • How many user codes does Aura support?

    Aura supports 250 user codes.
  • Can I set different access code schedules to control who and when guests have access?

    Yes, using the Kwikset App, you can create scheduled access codes that limit access by date range, days of week, and time of day. Some schedules can be recurring which is perfect for service providers such as dog walkers and cleaners.
  • Can I control multiple Aura locks on different homes using the same app and account?

    Yes, you can create and control multiple Aura deadbolts on different homes from the same app and account as long as you’re in Bluetooth range.
  • What finishes does Aura come in?

    Aura is available in Satin Nickel, Venetian Bronze, and Iron Black.
  • Can I control Aura with my smart device?

    Yes, you can control Aura with your smartphone within Bluetooth range using the Kwikset App.
  • Can the Aura deadbolt be picked or bumped?

    Aura uses the latest Kwikset keyway technology to protect against picking and bumping.
  • Can the Aura keyway cylinder be re-keyed?

    Aura incorporates Kwikset’s patented SmartKey technology which allows users to re-key the cylinder in less than a minute.
  • Can I see a history of who came and went (lock activities)?

    Yes. Aura will store up to 70 events (new events will replace old events). The events will sync to the Kwikset App when within Bluetooth range (the App will store more than 70 events once synced). Events include activities such as: locking and unlocking with an access code, locking and unlocking with the app, low battery alerts, and access codes added or deleted.
  • Do I need to remove the entire interior cover to change the batteries?

    No, you do not need to remove the entire interior cover to change the batteries. Remove the security screw securing the black RF window to the interior cover so the black RF window can be pushed up to expose the battery pack tab. Use the tab to pull the battery pack up for quick access to the batteries. For detailed instructions on how to remove the security screw, please see install guide.
  • How do I unlock Aura if the batteries die?

    Aura can be unlocked with a key.
  • What temperature and humidity ranges can Aura operate within?

    Exterior: Temperature -40°F to 150°F; Humidity 100% condensing

    Interior: 32°F to 140°F; Humidity 30% - 95% non-condensing
