    Trouble Shooting Tips

If you're having trouble setting up or using your Kwikset Halo Lock with a smart home platform like Google Home, Alexa, or SmartThings, try the following solutions:

Not Able to Connect to Smart Home (Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings)

    • Check Device Compatibility: Ensure you're not trying to use a Matter-only device, which the Halo Lock may not support.
    • Confirm Lock Is Added in the Kwikset App: Your Halo Lock must first be fully set up in the Kwikset app before linking to any smart home platform.
    • Restart Both Apps: Close and reopen the Kwikset app and the smart home app you're using (Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings).
    • Reset the Lock: If the lock isn't appearing, try removing it from the Kwikset app and re-adding it.

    Account Linking Issues

    • Double-Check Login Credentials: Make sure you're using the correct Kwikset account when prompted to sign in during the linking process.
    • Reauthorize Connection: Sometimes linking fails silently. Unlink Kwikset from the smart home app, then try linking again from scratch.
    • Use Same Wi-Fi Network: Make sure your phone and your lock are on the same Wi-Fi network during the setup process.

    Wi-Fi or Connection Errors

    General Tips

    • Update All Apps: Ensure Kwikset, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings apps are up to date.
    • Restart Your Phone: A quick restart can resolve app syncing or permission errors.
    • Contact Kwikset Support: If all else fails, Kwikset support can provide advanced troubleshooting.
