The SmartKey Difference

The proof is in the picking.

Lock Picking and Bumping Challenge at ALOA

We put our technology to the test at the Associated Locksmiths of America. We put the Kwikset SmartKey deadbolt up against a room full of trained professionals with access to and experience using sophisticated tools for lock picking and lock bumping. – none of which will be of any use against a Kwikset deadbolt with SmartKey technology.

Security professionals know that all locks are ultimately penetrable. The differences between a secure lock and a vulnerable lock are the time, know-how, and tools required to successfully pick that lock.

BumpGuard

Lock bumping is an attack on a keyed deadbolt using specially cut keys that can defeat traditional pin-and-tumbler style locks. Kwikset’s BumpGuard™, incorporated into SmartKey locks, replaces the pin and tumbler design with a patented side-locking bar to guard against lock-bumping attacks.

Drill Resistance
How Side Locking Bar Cylinder Locks Work

The front of the lock cylinder features two stainless-steel balls that protect the lock against drill interference. The steel balls form a barrier between the keyhole and the lock cylinder and rotate with the drill bit, preventing the drill from getting past the steel balls and into the cylinder.

ANSI/BHMA Grading
SmartKey is available in a deadbolt with a Grade 1 rating from the American National Standards Institute, a private non-profit organization that sets and regulates standards in the builders hardware industry. Grade 1 is the highest residential security grade ANSI rating and indicates the lock meets operational and security requirements for heavy commercial use, which more than covers highly trafficked residential entry and passageways

Customer Testimonials

Camp Locksmith, MIddle East
“In researching possible solutions, I came across the SmartKey Key Control Deadbolt system. I knew I had found the winner, as it effectively satisfied all of my requirements... Since we installed SmartKey locks almost two years ago now, we have had zero complaints or theft reports.”
Bridget B.
“Having the one key is extremely beneficial and huge convenience for our family, as it eliminated extra keys and things to remember. My husband and I feel good knowing that in case we lose a key we will not have to worry about safety concerns since we can easily rekey our locks.”
