I bought one for my daughter and hers lasted a little over a year and broke completely down. I called customer service and after a few trials and they determined it was defective they REPLACED IT WITH A BRAND NEW ONE. GREAT SERVICE. I plan on buying one for my other daughter and my son. Easy to use and easy to install. I did it myself.

Take the cylinder out of the unit and have the lock department at your local home improvement store use the resetting cradle to read the newly cut key to your lock. Sincerely, Kwikset Support Team

    I just installed the Smartcode 909 deadbolt lock. The box states backlit keypad with dedicated lock button. My backlit does not work. Any suggestions?

    Just installed this yesterday. Got to step 5, the latch bolt retracted and extended on its own after battery pack was installed. However, it will not program a user code. It keeps beeping twice for timed out, but the code and lock button are entered.

    The keypad does not illuminate when used to unlock the lock. Does the illumination have to be turned on and off or is the unit not functioning correctly?
