from Terrible range, impossible to program Overall a huge disappointment in this product's zigbee connectivity. The instructions are old, outdated, and straight up incorrect. If you do some searching ONLINE, you will find out that in order to connect it to your zigbee devices you have to push one button 7 times, another 4...really?? Then it works the first time, and after that its hit or miss. I have 3 repeaters in a 3000 sq ft house just to get a signal that works occasionally, and when it does it might take 3-5 minutes to respond. Unless Kwikset has done a 180 on this product since I bought it two years ago, I definitely do not recommend it.

from Good product, could be better I've been using this lock for a few years now. After about 6 months, the lock began to malfunction, loud clicking, like the gear box failed. Kwikset quickly replaced the lock. Good support! The replacement lock I received has been in use every since. About 4 months a go, I noticed the motor was struggling to unlock the bolt. With that, I patently disassembled the lock (not recommended for the average person, as there are small directional magnets that can be easily lost or incorrectly installed) gear box, found that kwikset used a lithium based grease for the gears which had dried up, causing the motor to struggle, stress, and even cause the bolt to jam up at times - also causing the batteries to drain quickly. After lubricating with another lithium type grease, the lock now works better than the day I received it.I wish the lock had an external power option accessory (for advanced installations) that used the battery pack for backup and extended the antenna to an external antenna. The purpose of this would allow advanced installers to route a single cable within the door that would power the lock, relocate/extend the antenna, and more. Batteries would never have to be changed at the lock, the zwave controller could be located further, as the lock would transmit further since it was hardwired, and antenna could be relocated. I've done some research and think I can do this myself with a little bit of patients.Overall, good product, with a little nurturing. Like I said, could be better.

from Total Disappointment I bought one for my new house. The installation started off easy but during unlocking the deadbolt would not retract all the way and would leave you locked out of the house. I exchanged it for a new one and the same thing is happening. The auto lock feature continues to unlock the door. After it is unlocked, lock the door and the auto lock unlocks it. Returning it and wish that I could give a lower rating.

from clean look but... I love my new door lock. But for programing stuff through Control4, it could be a bit more complet. Acces control with time and day restrictions would of been nice directly in Composer. Dont getbme wrong, I would buy it again if I hadnt bought it, but more possibilities for email notifications and other cool features would be awesome.

from It just works I don't get the negative reviews, perhaps they had a faulty unit? We have two of these in our house and they work great with the z-wave home automation network. Battery life is decent but you do have to turn down the polling frequency for that.

What are the dimensions of this? I am replacing an existing lock and need to make sure it covers at least the same footprint. What does the inside of this look like and how do you replace the batteries? Is there a manual PDF you could email me?

Does the lock connect to the web via WIFi in the home off the PC ? , does it come with a router to connect to the PC? I cannot find any web site that explains how the lock comms with the WEb.
Hello Al Bullard,Our locks connect to a home auotmation system, which then in turn connect to a wifi system. Our locks do not connect directly to the web or wifi, they simply connect wirelessly to a home automation system using either Z-wave or Zigbee frequencies.Thank you,Kwikset Support

I purchased this lock as it was more modern than those available through Vivint and was hoping to connect it to our Vivint Security System. It is not being picked up by our Vivint Panel when trying to detect Z-Wave devices.
Hello Krista,In order for the lock to properly include into the z-wave network, here are some simple steps;-Remove the battery pack.-Press & hold the program button (black button) for 5 seconds and release.-Make sure the lock is running brand new good quality batteries, e.g. Duracells or Energizers.-Insert battery pack back into power board.-Remove the lock off the door and take it next to the z-wave controller, must be six to twelve inches from controller.-On the z-wave controller go into “exclusion mode” then press the top left white button (B button) once. A red light will illuminate to the right of the B button and it will turn off.-On the z-wave controller go into “inclusion mode” then press the top left white button (B button) once. A red light will illuminate to the right of the B button and it will turn off.-Leave the lock next to the controller for about 2 minutes.-From the z-wave controller send a command to the lock. If the lock responds to the command it has successfully been included into the z-wave network and you can install the lock back on the door.If you need further assistance, please contact Kwikset Home Connect at 1 866 863 6584 .Thank you,Kwikset Support
