Kwikset Home Safety Resource Provides Essential Tools to Crime Prevention
Officers
Program Rollout Includes National Sheriff’s
Association Annual Meeting
Lake Forest, CA –
June 2004 - The Kwikset Home Safety Campaign program is a free
resource that aids law enforcement officers, certified crime prevention
specialists and community leaders explain how to improve home security.
The Kwikset Home Safety Kit features a short home security VHS video narrated by
America’s Safety expert Bob Stuber. Stuber explains how families can improve
home safety by developing a simple home safety routine. In addition to the
video, the Kwikset Home Safety Kit includes a Grade-1 deadbolt for hands on
demonstrations, and a poster that identifies the security features of a
deadbolt. Printed safety literature and product information is included which
can be distributed by the organizers of neighborhood watch groups, community
area policing meetings and community crime prevention seminars.
"The Kwikset Home Safety Kit is a public service our company has undertaken to
help officers educate their communities on how to prevent property crime
through improved home security,” said Jimmy Pendley, Kwikset Vice President
Sales and Product Marketing.
“The Kwikset Home Safety Kit is an extension of our law enforcement program
which has been active for more than 30 years. In the past, officers who were
coordinating crime prevention seminars could request Kwikset products for
display. Although the program was not widely promoted, the contributions became
an essential component to many community outreach initiatives. It is our hope
that by improving the look and the materials of the program, and reaching out
to law enforcement officers through organizations, like the National Sheriff’s
Association, Kwikset can help make a measurable impact towards the reduction of
property crime and burglary,” Pendley concluded.
Nearly 2,000 Kwikset Home Safety kits have been distributed since the program
was re-introduced at the Florida Crime Prevention Association Annual Meeting in
October 2003. Since then, Kwikset Home Safety Kits have been distributed to
officers and police academies in Chicago, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Boston,
Orlando, Denver, Washington DC and to the British Columbia Ministry of Public
Safety.
The Kwikset Home Safety Kit and replacement materials are available for free to
crime prevention professionals by submitting requests online at
