Lake Forest, CA – September 2003 - Kwikset® has introduced E-Z Install™, a patent pending device, which significantly reduces the amount of the time and skill necessary by homeowners to install Kwikset UltraMax Security™ doorknobs.

The primary innovations in E-Z Install devices are the pre-installed lead screws, which hold the door hardware together through the door. The pre-installed screws, and patented alignment plates significantly reduce set-up time and help homeowners avoid common installation mistakes such as upside down or backward attachments.

“This may be the most convenient method ever offered for installing door hardware,” said Jimmy Pendley, director of Kwikset product management. “The patented Kwikset E-Z Install function allows people who are complete novices to perfectly install a door knob or lever in a minute or two. 1. Adjusting the Universal latch; or installing a new latch and strike.
2. Twisting the E-Z mount plate in place and tightening the screws.
3. Assemble interior knob onto spindle and rotate counter clockwise to complete.
